Escaping Snowy Buffalo for Sunny Orlando: Our Stay at Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa

Every winter, leaving snowy Buffalo for the warm embrace of Orlando becomes a tradition we look forward to. Even when Florida isn’t at its warmest, it’s still a refreshing escape from the frigid cold back home. And when it comes to finding the perfect place to stay, Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa in Orlando has become our ultimate home away from home.

Why Westgate Feels Like Home

From the moment we arrived, we were reminded why Westgate is our go-to resort. The spacious villas are designed for ultimate comfort and convenience, offering all the amenities of home—and then some! With two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, a dining room table, a cozy living room, and even a washer and dryer, it’s easy to settle in and feel right at home.

Having a full kitchen means we can enjoy leisurely breakfasts, cook family dinners, and even indulge in late-night snacks without needing to leave the villa. And the convenience of in-unit laundry? It's an absolute game-changer, especially for an extended stay.

Resort Amenities Galore

Westgate Resort is more than just a place to stay—it’s a destination in itself! There's no shortage of fun, from bowling and the arcade to dining and shopping at the on-site market. Our favorite dining spot is Drafts Sports Bar & Grill, where you can enjoy a delicious meal while catching the game. Too tired to dine out? Drafts offers a convenient to-go option, perfect for cozy dinners in the villa.

Even though it was a bit too chilly to enjoy the waterpark on this trip, we’re already planning our next visit to take full advantage of it. And, of course, I can’t forget the on-site Starbucks! Starting my mornings with a coffee from the marketplace and lounging on the balcony, soaking in the serene views, was one of my favorite ways to unwind.

The Ultimate Relaxation: Serenity Spa

If there’s one thing you must experience at Westgate, it’s the Serenity Spa. This was my second visit, and it was as magical as the first. From the moment you walk in, the calming ambiance sets the tone for total relaxation.

We started our spa experience with time in the sauna and hot tub, sipping tea and enjoying light snacks. Our massages were the highlight, melting away stress and rejuvenating us. Afterward, we lingered in the quiet room, sipping wine and savoring the tranquility. It’s the perfect way to recharge after a magical day at Disney—or to treat yourself during your stay.

The Serenity Spa offers much more than massages, including facials, nails, hair treatments, and more. It’s a haven for self-care, and I’m already looking forward to my next treatment!

While Westgate is a destination in itself, its location is ideal for exploring Orlando. Whether it’s a trip to the Disney parks, shopping, or checking out other must-see attractions, everything is just a short drive away.
